Tom has developed his own method of what he calls ‘colour tension’ painting, which is constructed around the idea that true effectiveness is found when the mind catches tensions that the eye doesn’t see. The method explores the combining of hue and tone in relation to the point at which colours clash. Irrespective of his medium he is keen to maintain a feeling of freshness to his work by experimenting with new stylistic components.
